Redline Event Photography's Image Use Policies
*Images
displayed on any Redline website or page:
No image that is displayed on a Redline Event Photography website or page may be
copied, or downloaded for any reason what-so-ever, period. If you are caught downloading or copying our work, you will be
invoiced at a rate of $100/image. If this seems harsh or unfair, consider that under US Copyright Law, the maximum penalty
for infringement of a registered image is $150,000 per image, and typical settlements are currently about 1/3 the maximum.
**Social networking and images or prints that you have purchased: Sharing a Redline photo that you have purchased on a social networking site is absolutely
fine. The only thing we ask is, that you tag Redline or give photo credit, so your friends will know who took the awesome
shot that you are sharing. :) Redline can also provide
you with a facebook ready image, you have already purchased, for you to share with your friends. The charge for this service
is $12 per image. If you would like us to send you a facebook ready file please get in touch using the contact page of this
website.
***Advertising and images or prints you have purchased: It clearly states on every Redline CD, and the back of every print we sell: You may not use
a Redline image in any form of advertising without prior written permission from Redline Event Photography. Our photos are intended for personal use and pleasure. And our pricing structure reflects
that. However, we understand that people's need change, and some may even have business needs for our work. If you wish to
use one of our photos in an advertisement, regardless of media type (including print publications, online classified ad
websites, barn/facility websites, trainer's, services and e-commerce websites), you must purchase image use rights to
do so. We currently offer Unlimited Use Rights at a rate of $100*. It does not matter if you
are selling/leasing a horse, or promoting a service, or facility. As they say, A picture is worth a thousand words. If our
images are good enough to help you sell something, it is worth paying for the right to use them. If you are found to be using a Redline image in an advertisement illegally, a DMCA Takedown
Notice will be sent to the website's host. This requires that they (the hosting company) immediately remove the image from
their server or risk being named in a copyright infringement suit. Additionally, you will be sent a letter informing you of
the illegal use, and an invoice for 3 times our standard $100/image use fee. Failure to respond to notification or pay the
invoice will result in the matter being referred to our attorney for further legal action.
**** Photo Contests: No Redline Event Photography photos may ever be entered in any photo contests.
There are a few reasons for this. The short version is: When you buy a print you have purchased
that print on that piece of photo paper. Not the copyright to that image. Most photo contests contain what is known as "A
Rights Grab". When you enter a photo in a contest most of the time the rules contain words that give the contest
holder the right to use, republish, and even sell the photo, or the rights to that photo, to whomever they want. This means
when you sumbit an image they may try to profit from a photo that they did not produce. Unless you are the copyright holder
to an image, you are not legally allowed to sell or exchange the rights to an image to anybody.
We sincerely hope we never have to contact someone about image theft or using our
work without proper permission. Sadly, it is a lose-lose proposition for everybody involved.
* Redline only offers Unlimited Use Rights. Our Unlimited
Use Rights price is considerably less than many other photographer's limited use rights pricing. We also offer bulk pricing
for use rights of multiple images. Please use the contact page should you need bulk pricing.
